Fermenting homemade apple cider vinegar in a glass jar – part of a DIY wellness journey in Langley, BC.

Homemade, Fermented, and Better-For-You: DIY Wellness in Langley, BC

It all started with a simple idea: making my own batch of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV). Little did I know, that one experiment would spark a journey into homemade wellness products, natural ingredients, and self-sufficiency.

From ACV to Natural Deodorant

As I experimented with ACV, I started wondering what else could I make from scratch?

At the time, my store-bought natural deodorant was ruining my clothes, and my go-to beeswax deodorant was only available at the Penticton Farmer’s Market. Since I couldn’t always get my hands on it, my wife Jordyn suggested to make my own from scratch.

That project led me down another rabbit hole: learning how beeswax is harvested which, of course, introduced me to the fascinating world of beekeeping.

Cutting Sugar & Discovering Probiotic Gummies

Around the same time, I was trying to kick my sugar habit when I came across a homemade sour gummy recipe on TikTok. Instead of using gelatin, the creator used Agar Powder: a seaweed extract that acts as a thickening agent.

That’s when I had another idea: What if I combined fruit juice, honey, and ACV to make my own probiotic gummies? A healthy, gut-friendly treat without the artificial junk - sign me up!

Fermenting My Own Probiotic Soda

Now, I’ve taken my fermentation experiments to the next level - brewing my own probiotic soda using a Ginger Bug starter! It’s been incredible to see how simple ingredients can be transformed into powerful, health-boosting products.

Who knows what I’ll experiment with next? If there’s anything I’ve learned on this journey, it’s that simple ingredients can lead to some pretty amazing discoveries.
